Changelog

New features and improvements in Marlo.

v1.27.2

Smoother pictures, faster long pages

Pages full of pictures scroll smoothly, and long pages open and close faster.

  • Picture pages scroll about 7 times smoother. Pictures near where you are load first, and the rest arrive quietly in the background.
  • Long pages open about 30% faster and close about 3 times faster. Even very long pages feel quick to move in and out of.
  • Live updates use up to 900 times less data. Each change you make now tells your other Macs only what they need.

Fixes

  • ReliabilitySyncing and duplicating pages are more dependable.
  • And moreSmaller fixes across the app.
v1.27.0

Paste from anywhere, move with ease

A glass keyboard key marked ⌘V, the paste shortcut, tilted and lit by a warm golden glow on a dark background.

Paste Markdown from other apps as formatted text, move documents without dragging, and never lose your last edits when you quit.

  • Paste Markdown from anywhere. Text from an AI chat, a README or a .md file arrives formatted, with its headings, lists, links, tables and images.
  • Move documents without dragging. Choose Move to… from a document's menu and pick its new place in the tree.
  • Nothing is lost when you quit. However you close Marlo, your last edits are saved first.
  • Copy as Markdown. Copy a whole document as Markdown from its menu, ready for another app or another Marlo document.
  • A head start for new users. A fresh install shows five first steps in the sidebar that tick off as you go.
  • A calmer look. Documents that aren't downloaded yet have a bolder title, the sync icon stays out of the way, and every button shares one rounded shape.
  • Help and feedback. The ? button in the sidebar now opens Help, where you can see what's new or send feedback straight from the app.

Fixes

  • ImagesPasting and loading pictures is smoother and more reliable.
  • Select AllSelect All from the Edit menu now selects only the document.
  • And morePlenty of smaller improvements and fixes across the app.
v1.26.0

Write first, shape later

A floating toolbar with a T and a small down arrow, then bold, italic and list buttons, above a glowing glass text field that reads “Just write” followed by a cursor, on a dark background.

Change a block's type after you've written it, start every line on the side you write in, and type faster in long documents.

  • Turn into, from the toolbar. Select text and make it a heading, a list, a quote, a callout or code. No need to decide before you write.
  • Lines follow your keyboard. An empty line starts on the side of the language you're typing in, so a new Persian line begins on the right.
  • Faster typing. Long documents feel noticeably lighter.
  • A cleaner search window. A roomy search field with its own results box. It opens ready to type and closes with Escape.
  • Calmer menus. Every menu shares one rounder shape, and the / and @ menus always open fully on screen.

Fixes

  • SearchFinds words at the start of every line and list item.
  • MenusThe / and @ menus no longer open off-screen near the bottom of the window.
  • QuotesA quote's bar stays on the side of its first line.
  • SelectingClicking past the end of a line no longer highlights the empty space between blocks.
v1.24.3

v1.24.2

Improvements and fixes

Improvements to sign-in and accounts, along with smaller fixes and polish across the app.

v1.23.0

Bring in any Markdown file

Markdown files from other apps and AI tools now open in Marlo whole.

  • Open from Finder. Double-click any .md file to open it in Marlo.
  • Works with any Markdown. Headings, lists, tables, code and links all come through.
  • Images come along. Pictures in a folder next to the file are imported with it.
  • Real titles. Marlo uses the title inside the file, not the filename.
  • Nothing is dropped. Anything Marlo can't display yet, like math, stays in the document as text.
  • One file at a time. For a whole workspace, use Import from Slite.

Fixes

  • SyncDocuments with images now sync reliably.
v1.21.0

Marlo runs on Intel Macs

One build now runs natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, with automatic updates on both.

v1.14.0

Faster image sync

  • No repeat uploads. Images already in the cloud aren't sent again, so syncing finishes sooner and uses less data.
  • Every workspace. Images in all your workspaces sync in the background, starting with the one you're in.
  • Same history everywhere. Version history now matches on every device.
v1.13.0

Import from Slite

Bring a whole Slite workspace into Marlo in one step, with its document tree, links and images.

Improvements

  • Sync statusShows what's uploading, lets you retry when offline, and tells you when everything is up to date.
v1.11.0

A new app icon

Marlo has a new icon.

Improvements

  • SyncRecovers better when your connection drops.
v1.10.0

The same emoji everywhere

Every emoji in Marlo now comes from one set, so it looks the same on every device.

  • As you type. Typed or pasted emoji switch to Marlo's set right away, even in code blocks.
  • Flags. The emoji picker has a Flags tab, and search finds flags too.
v1.9.0

A new emoji picker

Search by name, browse by category, pick a skin tone, and find your most-used emoji at the top.

v1.8.0

Automatic updates and Markdown export

  • Automatic updates. New versions download in the background and install when you're ready.
  • Markdown export and import. Export any document as a .md file with its images, and bring Markdown files back in.
  • A refreshed look. Your document sits on a floating page, with a new top bar that shows where you are.
